Introduction

SUPER-UX USER'S REFERENCE MANUAL

The SUPER-UX User's Reference Manual describes commands and application programs available to users of the SUPER-UX operating system. If users are not already familiar with the SUPER-UX operating system, they can refer to the SUPER-UX User's Guide for details.

CONVENTIONS

The following conventions are used throughout this document.

In narrative text, commands, programs, and flags are rendered in lowercase italics, for example,
"When using the acctcom command".
Variable information is printed in italics. In the following, filename is variable information in the command string.
pr /usr/filename
When a command string contains both commands and variables, the command is bold; the variable is italic. For example,
command constant-1 > constant-2
Options (-p, -n, etc.), program names, reserved words (#define, if, while, goto, etc.), arguments, function names, and keywords appear in boldface type.
File names and directories remain as standard text.
The following suffixes in the running heads indicate the origin of the command as follows:

  -N      NEC
  -O      Others
  None    UNIX System V
```
Entries in the form of name(1), sometimes followed by a letter, refer to entries in this guide, the SUPER-UX User's Reference Manual. Some name(1) entries are found in the SUPER-UX Programmer's Reference Manual.
References in the form of name(7) or name(1M) refer to entries in the SUPER-UX System Administrator's Reference Manual. References to the form name(1M), if not in this guide, are found in the SUPER-UX System Administrator's Reference Manual.
Other references to entries of the form name(n), where n is a number from 2 to 5(sometimes followed by a letter), refer to the entry name in section n of the SUPER-UX Programmer's Reference Manual.
