Introduction

SUPER-UX NQS USER'S GUIDE.

The SUPER-UX NQS User's Guide explains how to create batch transactions using the Network Queuing System (NQS) on the SUPER-UX operating system.

This document consists of the following chapters.

• Chapter 1, Overview and Configuration, outlines NQS and describes requests, queues, and devices used in NQS.

• Chapter 2, Operations, discusses how to use NQS.

• Chapter 3, User Commands, lists NQS commands for users.

xx in Gxx represents a group number of each system group.

CONVENTIONS

The following conventions are used throughout this document.

• Names of keys are printed as they appear on a standard keyboard: Ctrl, Back Space, and so on.

• Text and instructions you enter appear in boldface type. Command strings also appear in boldface, as shown in the following example.

• The terms "enter" ("entering," etc.) always refer to the two-step process of typing a command or character string, and pressing Return. For example, the statement "Enter justify" means to type justify and press the Return key. The system does not respond to a command or character string until Return is entered.

• When two keys are to be pressed simultaneously, they are joined by "and." For example, "Press Ctrl and s."

• Keys or character strings typed successively are separated by commas. For example, "Press Ctrl and s, g, Return."

• Text strings enclosed in brackets are optional. In the following example, options may
  or may not be included after the command.
  grep [options]

• Items enclosed in braces { } represent choices or alternatives.

• An ellipsis (...) indicates that the preceding format may be repeated.

• Variable information is printed in italics.
  pr /usr/filename

• When a command string contains both commands and variables, the command is bold; the variable is italic. For example,

  command constant-1 > constant-2

• Options (_p, _n, etc.), program names, function names, reserved words (#define, if, while, goto, etc.), arguments, and keywords appear in boldface type.

• File names and directories remain as standard text.

• NQS version is printed as"Rxx.xx" in the output of commands.
